Staples-Motley Drops Non-Conference Tilt to Nevis

Nevis (11-13) ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Staples-Motley 52-45 in Staples, Minn., Thursday night.
Taylor Chase put his stamp on another opponent this season, outdueling Kyle Jansson and leading all scorers with 24.
Jansson continued his strong play for Staples-Motley (7-17), compiling 19 points.
Nevis used strong defense in the first half, limiting S-M to a season-worst 13 points, in building a 12-point lead. 
The Cardinals' offense recovered in the second stanza behind Jansson's play, but could not come up with the big plays down the stretch. 
Up next: Crosby-Ironton (14-10) Friday, Feb. 24. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15.
