Cardinals Soar Into Postseason Red-Hot

The Staples-Motley Cardinals are going to need others to step up from here on out after top scorer Jasmine McGillvray suffered a knee injury just more than a week ago.
A team effort is what coach Arden Beachy got.
For more than one half of play, Staples-Motley played even basketball against Class A Nevis (17-9).
The Cardinals turned the corner early in the second frame, spurring an easy 76-49 win Thursday night in a final tune-up before Sections.
Jaelin Beachy notched 14 points, a total McGillvray averaged per game before the injury, to lead Staples-Motley.
Three others scored in double figures as the Cardinals wrapped up the regular season on a seven game winning streak to finish 21-4.
Megan Norby amassed 14 points in defeat.
